April 2014 Release – Glaucus Drakes & Howler Drakes

Hey all,

Like I promised earlier, here’s all the complete information about the new dragons!

The Drop
The drop was delayed, like I told earlier. Allthough lots of people were afraid it would be much harder to catch an egg, personally I didn’t have any problems with it. Within an hour I got 3 Blue ones and 4 Brown-Black ones. And this was during cooking my dinner and other things, so I wasn’t really focused on catching. Other’s experiences were mixed, though.

Dragon Creators

With TJ’s dragons growing up it is now clear who all the creators are.  Odeen is the concept designer of the “Black-brown” while Birdzgoboom is the concept designer of the “Moist” one. They’ve also both made the all the sprites.

They have a few other things in common as Piemaster pointed out:

It seems birdz and Odeen are getting a lot of releases lately :3cNot a bad thing, just an interesting coincidence.
Ironically, it’s also both of their third releases, and they each had a holiday release before this, and they each had a drake released as their third in-cave dragon xd.pngThis post has been edited by PieMaster on Apr 6 2014, 06:50 PM

You may know Odeen from her Solstice Dragons and Birdzgoboom from the Radiant Angels.

Names

The codes gave no clues to the names. TJ only told us it were both Drakes:

  • aprilrelease-2-egg: Sorted between Horse & Ice
  • aprilrelease-1-egg: Sorted between Geode & Glory Drake

Now that the TJ’s dragons have grown up, the names are known now too:

  • aprilrelease-1-egg: Glaucus Drake
  • aprilrelease-2-egg: Howler Drake

The Howler Drake is already nick-named Noisy and Chirpy. The Glaucus Drake is already nick-named Moisty.

TJ’s Dragons

As always TJ posts his own dragons. With this release the codes were:

Biomes

You can catch the new dragons in:

  • aprilrelease-1-egg: Coast
  • aprilrelease-2-egg: Jungle

Dimorphism

With TJ having 3 of each species, it was clear there would be no dimorphism for the hatchlings, but there would be for the adults. These are the first Drakes Species with Dimorphism.

The Sprites & Descriptions

Glaucus Drake
Concept Design by Birdzgoboom
Sprite design by birdzgoboom (All)
Stage Picture Description
Egg  aprilrelease-1-egg This striped egg feels moist.
Hatchling  aprilrelease-1-s1 Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s mostly white but has a blue stripe down its back.
Maturing Hatchling  aprilrelease-1-S2 And look! It has grown antlers! It must be close to maturing.
Female Adult  Glaucus_Drake_adult_female Glaucus Drakes have curious personalities. They spend more of their time sunbathing and idly floating in the water than exploring. Because they move very little as when they float, Glaucus Drakes can ambush prey relatively easily. They can dive to surprisingly deep depths, and eat a variety of fish and marine plants. Most of them live in tight-knit family groups.
Male Adult  Glaucus_drake_adult_male

Howler Drake
Concept Design by Odeen
Sprite design by Odeen (All)
Stage Picture Description
Egg  aprilrelease-2-egg  You hear strange noises coming from inside this egg.
Hatchling  aprilrelease-2-s1  Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It almost never stops chirping.
Maturing Hatchling  aprilrelease-2-S2 And look! It has gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.
Female Adult  Howler_Drake-adult-female It is no mystery where Howler Drakes got their names. Though not very bright, these emotive creatures employ an impressive vocabulary of loud chortles, shrieks, and songs to communicate with one another, and almost never stop chattering. Howler Drakes inhabit dense jungles, foraging in the fertile soil for mushrooms, tubers, and insects. When threatened, a Howler will flare its wings to display its bright red eye spots, while letting out an ear-splitting scream.
Male Adult  Howler_drake-adult-male

Rarity

With the release a few days on its way, it seems the new breeds are pretty common, like the Brutes and Fever Wyverns. They’re pretty easy to catch. We’ll have to see how it turns out when the catching fever dies down a bit though.

These are drakes and drakes can only breed with other drakes. So it might be that these will become almost as common as caveblockers, but we can only wait and see what happens.

The Breed

Birdzgoboom gave us extra information about the Glaucus Drakes with beautifull concept art to accompany it:

Glaucus_drake_by_birdzgoboom

Also, Birdzgoboom told us the description of the egg was changed by TJ:

I actually didn’t give the eggs that description. ovo But I don’t mind it being changed. It’s all cool in my book.

Thanks, Birdzgoboom, for sharing this wonderful concept art & information!

This time Odeen didn’t have a concept art sheet, like last time with her Solstice Dragon, but she did share some information about the Howler Drakes with us:

Can you see it happening? Good thing these two aren’t too close to each other on my scroll :D

Lineages

I haven’t looked at any lineage possibilities yet. But we are pretty limited, because DC Drakes (or Draks as they were originally called) can only breed with DC Drakes. Do you have any suggestions?

Have fun catching these new breeds!

If this “middle of the day” crap is going to continue–and I’d rather see it go back to the midnight drops (with 24 hour pure drops,I like those)…

Have there be more eggs.  There’s so many more people, it’s frustratingly hard to try to get any eggs.  Not the good kind of “well that was frustrating but man it feels great I got one!”

The “it’s a freakin’ miracle I got ANYTHING, this sucks” kind of frustratin.

ASlso hate the whole “significantly less time to get Day 1 dated eggs” thing…

The number of eggs already scales exponentially with the number of users online.

The two bits in italics make the egg generation generally in your favor–even if not everyone online is hunting for eggs, the site will generate more eggs, and it generates even more eggs to compensate for increased difficulty when there’s a lot of people.

EDIT: this isn’t a new thing, by the way. been happening for a long time. Unless you thought I just sat there and picked numbers of eggs to drop every hour.

So…. With this new release, although it was in the middle of the day with more users online, there were also more eggs generated, which I kinda expected already.

But for those who didn’t know yet, I think this is good news :)

April 2014 Release – Names unknown at the moment

2014-04-06-aprilreleaseHey all,

With the question of an April Fool’s Joke still not solved (Rubyshoes only closed it because: Closing for now as thread is becoming “chatty”), we have a new release already.

Drop delayed
TJ announced the drop was going to be delayed as an experiment. Lots of players were not happy with this but we’ll just have to see how this works out.

Egg Description

  • aprilrelease-1-egg: This striped egg feels moist.
  • aprilrelease-2-egg: You hear strange noises coming from inside this egg.

These descriptions both sound very familiar and the brown-black egg certainly looks familiar. But that’s about it.

Biomes

  • aprilrelease-1-egg: Coast
  • aprilrelease-2-egg: Jungle

Lucky catches
During the release all the other biomes were empty, like with the previous release. Although many people feared it would be very hard to get any of the eggs, I managed to get 4 of the black-brown ones and 3 of the blue ones.

Breed
At the moment I don’t know anything abou the breed yet, besides they’re both drakes. And with the limited amount of drakes we have in the cave, I think it’s wonderful we’ve got 2 new drakes! As for nicknames:

  • aprilrelease-1-egg: Striped; obviously
  • aprilrelease-2-egg: Noisy; pretty logical

More information later on

As soon as I have more information, I will post it. Have fun until then! I hope you’ll all be able to catch them all!

DC New release has been postponed

Hello all,

The usual monthly release will be delayed a few hours. I’m going to try something new: doing a release during a time when the main audience of the site is actually awake (rather than, you know, at midnight).

Specifically, the new release will happen at 1 PM EST tomorrow. Let’s see how it goes.

Keeping in mind this was posted on April 5th, the release should happen today, but on 1PM. If the release is being done like last time, I don’t really mind. After all, I think we got a few days of new eggs only drops. Allthough it will be 7pm my time, I think it will be alright. Or at least I hope so :)

Have fun waiting!

Dragon Cave has a site downtime

I know I already said this in my previous post, but I thought I’d let you know separately: Dragon Cave has a site downtime, as announced by TJ:

Today, I’m excited to announce a new feature, one that’s been in the works literally for years, that will help expand the world of Dragon Cave to a whole new level—the Dragon Encyclopedia.

user posted image

The Encyclopedia allows you to unlock “notes” about breeds—tidbits of information about their behavior, habitat, etc. These notes will appear as you raise or click on dragons (even clicks on adults are counted). The more you observe, the more you can find out! You can discover exciting context about the dragons you know and love, information that will enrich the overall Dragon Cave experience by fleshing out the world it exists in. No longer are you limited to only the four or five sentences provided in the breed description; now, you can learn things about your dragons that have never been revealed before.

user posted image

The encyclopedia will be rolling out slowly; first to a small subset of users for testing (either through random selection or random drawing), then to the general public. Not all breeds will have information at first. Expect to hear more information Soon™.

It was a wonderful announcement, especially since it’s a feature that’s been suggested. But the first thing I noticed when I opened the topic, was the name of the poster: ƧockPuppet Strangler

You noticed the S in mirror view? And you noticed Socky’s picture? And then look at at the signature. Yeah…. It’s TJ

Although I’d love this feature, I think it was a fun April Fool’s Day joke :)

And of course the leetle Tree is a leetle Brocolli right now: leetletree-brocolli

And just in case you were having doubts, here’s the news section overview which shows all the topics started by SockpuppetStrangler…. errrr…. TJ:

March 2014 release – Fever Wyvern & Brute

Hey all,

With the Raffle 2013 prizes distributed AND the Valentine release and event over, it’s now March and time for a new release. Have you ever wondered when the new releases come? Here’s what TJ posted about the release, back in August 2013:

Dragon Creators
The dragon creators are ParticleSoupDracchan and LadyLyzar Blueskyy & Stromboli. You may know ParticleSoup as both an event spriter and the creator of one of my favorite dragons: the Pillow dragon. LadyLyzar is both an event spriter and an in-cave spriter of several dragons, including another one of my favorite dragons: the Heartseeker dragon. Dracchan is an in-cave spriter of the Ember Dragon.
Stromboli is the Concept designer of the Brute breed and with this breed she’s made her debute as an artist. Blueskyy has also made her debut as an artist with the Brute breed.

Name
The codes didn’t give us any clues about the names of the new breeds. Of course many speculations were made. One thing about each was clear, though, when sorting on breed:

  • marchrelease-orangeflared-egg The Orange Flared sorts between Ember & Flamingo
  • marchrelease-heavy-egg The Large & Heavy sorts between Brimstone & Canopy

Due to its colors, the orange flared is already being nicknamed Frill, because the original discontued frills were green with orange accents and even the egg has a similar look: Frill_Egg

With 2 of TJ’s dragons grown up, the names were also known:

  • marchrelease-orangeflared-egg Fever Wyvern
  • marchrelease-heavy-egg Brute

TJ’s Dragons
TJ posted 6 dragons in the forums, 2 Fever Wyverns and 4 Brutes. They had the codes:

Biomes
In the beginning of the release it was unknown if the breeds were released in the biomes or if they were hybrids. The biomes were all empty and for a while no eggs dropped.  This caused many people to think both breeds were hybrids. However, one player caught both breeds in the biome quite early which proved they were no hybrids but there was merely a delay in drops.

The biomes where you can find these breeds are:

  • marchrelease-orangeflared-egg can be found in the Jungle
  • marchrelease-heavy-egg can be found in the Alpine

During release day all other biomes were empty. It was unknown if this was because TJ wanted us to find the new eggs easier, or if this was a glitch. During the official release day everyone got convinced TJ was testing a new release system, where the biomes in which the new eggs are going to be would only have the new eggs and other biomes would remain empty during the official release. With all the positive reactions I saw on this change, I think it’s safe to conclude everyone was very happy with this system. Personally I think it’s wonderful!

Dimorphism

As TJ had posted only 2 Fever Wyvern eggs and 4 Brute eggs, it was thought the Fever Wyvern breed doesn’t have dimorphism, while the Brute does have dimorphism. This was later proved true when TJ’s hatchlings matured.

Because of this the Fever Wyverns were rather easy to catch since many people want to start with only 2 of these. The Brutes, however were harder to catch during release day, because many people wanted at least 4 of these.

The brute hatchlings of some players appeared to be glitched as they showed the picture of a fogged dragon, while you could see all the data of the hatchling. As this had happened before with other breeds, it was expected this would be solved in the future.

The Sprites & Descriptions

Fever Wyvern (Orange Flared)
Design by ParticleSoup (all) & Dracchan (adult)
Stage Picture Description
Egg marchrelease-orangeflared-egg This egg is patterned with an orange flare.
Hatchling  marchrelease-orangeflared-hatchling Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to sleep in the sunshine, but it’s more active at night.
Mature Hatchling  marchrelease-orangeflared-genderedhatchling Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to sleep in the sunshine, but it’s more active at night.
And look! Its wings have grown bigger, and it now has large stingers all over the newly split tips of its tail. It must be close to maturing.
Adult  Feverwyvern-adult To make up for a lack of physical strength, Fever Wyverns rely on a strain of deadly bacteria which grows on their tail spines. This bateria is used to help kill prey or as a defense mechanism. The bacteria will attack the victim’s nervous and respiratory systems upon entering the body, quickly rendering it helpless before eventually killing it. Usually a solitary breed, these dragons will only come together during mating season and will flare out the brightly colored sails along their wings to help attract potential mates. Although it has been observed that the wyverns are nocturnal, they will often pick an open spot of sunshine to curl up in and sleep as the day passes by.

Brute (Large & Heavy)
Design by LadyLyzar (all), Blueskyy (female adult), Stromboli (female Adult)
Stage Picture Description
Egg marchrelease-heavy-egg This egg is unusually large and heavy.
Hatchling marchrelease-heavy-hatchling Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s already quite large compared to other hatchlings, and appears to like roughhousing.
Male Hatchling  marchrelease-heavy-malehatchling Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s already quite large compared to other hatchlings, and appears to like roughhousing.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Female Hatchling  marchrelease-heavy-femalehatchling
Male Adult  Brute-Male-Adult Brute Dragons are among the larger dragon breeds. They prefer to live in solitude or small groups, nesting in high, mountainous regions. The only time they openly seek the company of others is during the mating season, when males will fight for the attention of females. The thunderous crash of Brute dragons butting horns against each other in competition for mates can be heard nearly a mile away.
Female Adult  Brute-female-adult

The Breed
ParticleSoup shared the following information about the Fever Wyverns early in his morning:

They are indeed very intelligent dragons. The bacteria on their tails is purposefully nurtured into being what it is, beginning as soon as the stingers grow in. Each Fever has it’s own unique strain which it is immune to, but other Fevers can be still infected, although the mortality rate is low.

We could say these dragons would make good chemists/pharmacist/doctors.. IF they weren’t so moody. They don’t particularly enjoy company and are quite territorial, so they’ll readily defend their space. One reason they don’t keep friends well is because of how dangerous the tail stingers are. It’s not entirely unheard of for a Fever to make friends, but they generally try to keep their distance so as not to accidentally hurt the other dragon. (Some of the more emotional individuals could have a rough time with this, emotionally.)

Although quick to anger, Fever wyverns tend to keep their rationality and won’t actually attack with their stingers unless there is a real, serious threat. They’ll give all sorts of warnings first, such as making angry noises, stomping their feet, swinging their tail around, and/or flaring out their wing sails. The benefit to using the stingers on prey is that it becomes inedible to scavengers so nothing is likely to try and take it and the wyvern can save it for later.

Stromboli shared the following with us about the Brutes:

Brutes are very much your good ol’ classic storybook dragons. They generally live alone, though they are sometimes known to live in groups of three or four. Groups usually consist of those either too young or too old to have much interest in mates. Brutes in their prime tend to be more aggressive, and less tolerant of others.

They are hoarders and lair-builders. From the time that they are hatchlings, they will gather anything shiny they can find and bury it in their own little troves. Brutes are also viciously territorial and highly possessive of their treasure. Don’t try to raid a Brute lair if there’s any chance that the dragon is still alive. Just don’t.

As stated in their breed description, males will fight for a female’s attention. Ultimately, though, it’s the female who chooses her mate, and it’s not always the winner of the fight. She’ll choose whichever she thought fought best. It’s very rare that a Brute will mate for life.

Brutes also are not often the best parents. Eggs and young hatchlings are cared for mostly because the parent views it as part of their hoard. When the hatchling starts to mature and assert itself, the parent grows less interested in keeping it around. Usually hatchlings will leave the nest on their own around the point where they’re fledging. A fledged hatchling that does not leave the nest of its own volition will be forced out by its parent. Fledgelings either choose to strike out on their own, or will sometimes live in small juvenile groups until they reach adulthood.

These dragons have no apparent magical ability. Their hides, however, are mildly resistant to most forms of magic. Brute scales are often sought after for this property, and the dragons are sometimes hunted for them. Another reason for hunting is the danger they pose to human settlements in the vicinity of their lair. Otherwise, it’s generally best to leave the beasties alone.

Rarity
ParticleSoup commented on a question about the rarity of the Fever Wyvern:

Just the Flares? Or are both of them common? Just curious!
I don’t recall specifying a rarity for the li’l roughhousers (or what it was, if I did), sorry… We’ll have to see how they pan out. happy.gif

Lineage
I got lucky and managed to snag 4 Brutes and 2 Fever Wyverns on release day, another Fever Wyvern on Monday, the day after release day and Wednesday I got my fourth Fever Wyvern!
Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!Adopt one today!

So, I’ve got plenty of Caveborn Dragons to work with. Of course the new breeds give all kind of ideas for new lineages! So far these are my favorite combinations:

Brute & Hell horse Fever Wyvern & Bright-breasted Wyvern

I’ll certainly be doing some hunting for the dragons I need. Hmmm… Lots of hunting to do with the Radiant Angels being in a lineage project too. Oh well, the AP regularly has CB eggs as well. Out of my current 270 AP eggs I have about 80 caveborns. So all hope is not lost! Especially since I hunt both the AP and the Cave biomes for my dragons :)

New release: Valentine 2014 – Radiant Angel

Earlier I told you TJ released a new Valentine dragon. Of course there’s a lot more information to gather, so here it all is.

Dragon Creators
The dragon creators are Infinis & birdzgoboom. You may know Infinis as both an even spriter and a help moderator on the official forums. Birdzgoboom is both an event spriter and an in-cave spriter (Nhiostrife Wyvern)

TJ’s Dragons
TJ posted 2 dragons in the forums, as always. They had the codes:

  • Kisss
  • IhugU

Aren’t those cute codes?

Name
Now that TJ’s dragons have grown up, the breed’s name is known:

Radiant Angel

Gender
This year the Valentine dragons will be male, according to this schedule:

  • 2009: Female Valentine (produces only female Valentine in season)
  • 2010: Male Sweetling (produces only male Sweetlings in season)
  • 2011: Female Rosebud (produces only female Rosebuds in season)
  • 2012: Male Heartseeker (produces only male Heartseekers in season)
  • 2013: Female Arsani (produces only female Arsanis in season)

So, it was pretty logical we’d get males this year.

The Sprites & Descriptions

Stage Picture Description
Egg valentine2014-egg This radiant white egg has red and gold swirls on it.
Hatchling valentine2014-hatchling Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. Its scales are a radiant off-white color.
Male Hatchling valentine2014-hatchling-male Aww… It’s a cute baby dragon. Its scales are a radiant off-white color.
And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Adult valentine2014-adult Radiant Angel Dragons are known for their intuition—they always seem to know when someone is feeling down, and will do what they can to provide cheer. These dragons are curious and will poke their noses into anything. They communicate with one another by making sounds similar to singing. It is said that the golden feathers shed from their whiskers can rekindle lost feelings of love.
Infinis’ Spriter’s Alt spritersalt-infinis
Birdzgoboom’s Spriter’s Alt spritersalt-birdzgoboom

Again a dragon with whiskers. I like it! And feathers this time. I’m glad to see more dragons with feathers in the cave!

The Breed
Both Infinis and Birdzgoboom have shared information about this breed and the alts.

Radient_Angel_Concept

Breed Name: Radiant Angel
Dragon type: Winged Eastern
Size: 7-8 feet tall, maximum 25 feet long, maximum 40 foot wingspan
Colors: Off-white, Red, Gold
Alts: white, blue, pale gold and Black, red, gold

Habitat: Cloud forests
Diet: Small animals, berries
Characteristics:
Radiant Angels are very good at reading emotions, especially negative emotions. They will do whatever they can to bring cheer. They specialize in white magic.

They’re rather boldly curious, willing to investigate nearly anything, which has led to many an Angel being hurt, although this fazes them little. Angels are most active between dawn and dusk.

Angels communicate with a wide range of melodic sounds, often giving off calls similar to singing. Each voice is completely unique. They respond best to love and affection. Hugging one will invariably cheer anything up.

The golden feathers that tip their whiskers are said to rekindle lost love. It is believed that the Angels infuse their feathers with magic to produce this effect.

The gold stripe along their sides is longest, extending from the third toe to the hip (while the red stripe runs from shoulder to hip); together they form a heart on the hip with seen from above. Their head feathers can be moved similarly to ears, and are used for display and communication. Angels’ tiny scales have a reflective property that causes the tinting of the scales to change subtly throughout the day and night as a form of camouflage; this is most apparent at sunset.

Infinis’ alts are based off of the Black Materia and mine are based off of the White Materia from Final Fantasy 7, if anyone didn’t notice (it’s really hard not to notice it, though).

‘Cause we’re nerds.

I love this extra bit information! Although the Valentine dragons DO have a description for each breed, unlike the Christmas dragons, I love it that Infinis and Birdzgoboom have shared this extra information. It gives just that little extra.

Lineage
Although we won’t have anymore new caveborn Radiant Angels now that the Valentine event is done, we can still make lineages with these dragons. And I’ve got a few options in mind.

Royal Angels
valentine2014-eggRoyalCrimson_egg valentine2014-adult
Royalcrimson_adult
Speckled Angels
valentine2014-eggSpeckle-Throated_egg valentine2014-adult
speckled_throated_adult_female

I’ll be doing some hunting the coming months for Caveborn Speckle-throated and Caveborn Royal Crimson dragons. And hopefully I can set up some trades with others so that I can get more 2nd gen eggs and set up a true lineage project. That would be awesome!

Valentine 2014: Event

Hey everyone,

Like previous years Dragon Cave has a fun Valentine event again. You need to collect seeds (the spriters have made a variety of seeds  :) ) and plant them. Once they’re grown up, you can send them to friends. You will find the seeds randomly on Dragon Cave, roughly every 5 – 10 minutes. Click on the seed to have it delivered in your garden page. There you can plant it.

The plants

If you seem to have lost planted seeds, look in the border on the righthand side. They might be obscure by the plants there:

saplinginborder

I will fill this table with new seeds and pictures I find, so check back regularly! Per request from Fizzix a few plants have been left out here:

  • Dragon head
  • Miniature Iris

With a lot of thanks to Ponystar17, Thuban and Omosky for giving me several of the missing pictures! And a big thanks to those who’ve given me the link to the plant overview. Since it’s been widely used on the forum, I thought I might as well use it here too.
And thank you, Thuban, for giving me the correct names of the Biters!

Just an update for everyone, I got confirmation from TJ last night that the white Gerbera Daisy and Pink ??? are not obtainable (for anyone). He said that I could pass this on to people. So if those are all that you have left on your wishlist you can consider yourself done! This post has been edited by kerrikins on Feb 17 2014, 01:29 PM

Sending flowers to your friends.

You can send flowers to your friends by clicking on the full grown plant. You’ll then be able to choose a pot/vase to send the flower in. The plant will disappear from your garden and you’ll be able to plant a new seed in the empty space.

If you’re looking for players to send flowers to, be sure to visit this thread. If you’d like to show your garden, please go here.

If you’d like to keep a picture of your garden, make sure to make a screenshot, cause per TJ’s answer, only the cards will remain visible:

Dragon Cave Valentine 2014

Valentine 2014

Dragon Cave Valentine 2014

Dragon Cave Valentine 2014

Hey everyone,

Happy Valentine! I hope you all have a wonderful time today :) In Dragon Cave we’re already looking forward to some awesome new dragons!

The egg has a white with a bit of red colorscheme. I wonder how it will turn out!

valentine2014-egg

The description is:
This radiant white egg has red and gold swirls on it.

The spriters of this years dragon are:
birdzgoboom & Infinis

I’ve caugt two of them very quick. With a mass release it’s always pretty easy to catch them, so take your time. If you’re into special codes, look for a nice code for your dragon :)

Like with Christmas TJ has removed the limit of bred Valentine holiday dragons you can have, but there’s still a limit of CB Valentine Holiday Dragons you can have: 2 per scroll.

Have fun!
