All users who were selected to participate in the beta for the Dragon Encyclopedia have been e-mailed. You should check your e-mail to see if you have access (or, you know, just look for a new, private “feedback” section of the forums that only shows up to beta users).

For those who weren’t chosen, don’t worry; the Encyclopedia will become available to all within the near future.

DC’s Server outage: Eggs, etc disappeared

Hey everyone,

This morning/afternoon (depending on where you live), DC’s servers had two outages. The second outage caused people to loose eggs and trades. Personally I lost two eggs I caught in the AP and two hatchlings I named this morning are now nameless. Here’s TJ’s explanation for the loss:

Any actions that were performed shortly before the second period of downtime (starting around 08:00 EST) are gone forever. This includes breeding and grabbing eggs.

Note, however, that the actions were simply “not taken,” rather than lost or inconsistent (that is, dragons bred before the outage can be bred again).

Well, my eggs weren’t that valuable, so I don’t really mind, but there were people with Avatar and Metallic eggs, some even for trades, so they’re understandable not too happy. Unfortunately there’s nothing TJ could have done, if I understand the above correctly.

I hope you weren’t one of the people who lost precious eggs!

Possible parents for Thuwed egg?

Hey all,

I asked on the forums if someone had any idea who might be the parents of the Thuwed egg I requested. Although there are no red copper parents on the official breeding Thuwed list, there are several people who have received eggs from Thuwed parents who weren’t on the list. One of the people mentioned a 2nd gen Thuwed Winter Magi from a Thuwed Winter Magi and Thuwed CB Soulpeace. The Thuwed Winter Magi was one of the original Winter Magi’s which were displayed in the announcement thread about the Winter Magi’s.

So… I checked out the copper dragons TJ released and found these two possible parents:

Last time I already checked to see how the colors were determined and found this info:

The color of a Copper egg depends on these factors:

  • The biome the CB Copper egg was picked up from.
  • MaleMale Copper x any female dragon = Egg color of its mother’s biome.
    • If the mother has no biome or was caught BEFORE the biomes were added (June 10, 2011), it will be the color of the Copper father.
  • FemaleFemale Copper x any male dragon = Egg color of the female Copper.
  • Random (should never happen)

So….. On one hand I hope TJ will pick the female, simply because it that would be the simplest. On the other hand, choosing the male might be fun too.

Of course I don’t know if TJ will use either one of these, cause so far they have no offspring. I don’t know if it’s because they’ve been refusing, not interested, or simply not been bred yet.

I’ll just wait and see and hope it doesn’t take months before I’ll get the egg. I hope the breeding will be more successful :)

As previously announced, the Dragon Encyclopedia will give users the chance to unlock tidbits of knowledge about the various dragon breeds through “observing” (clicking on) dragons (and hatchlings). The topic from months ago didn’t really mention any specifics about the release process for this new feature (beyond the infamous “Soon™”).

The encyclopedia will start off in a limited beta period. Users in this beta will be given access to the feature, and asked to provide feedback via a private section of the forums. If you are interested in participating in this beta, visit the below link:

In three days (AKA at some point on Sunday), 50-100 users will be drawn at random to participate in the beta. Keep in mind that those who get in will be expected to actively help test the new feature and provide input on what works (and what doesn’t).

If you aren’t able to help test, there’s no need to fret. The feature will be going out to everyone, so you’ll get your chance to get in on the fun as well.

Guardian of Nature Summon 7

Hey all,

Now that we can use the Guardian of Nature for breeding and can have three Guardians of Nature instead of two, I’m determined to keep on summoning until I’ve got three GoN’s.

I’ve tried today again, but unfortunately I had no luck. I’m going to see if I can complete another Legendary trio, as I understand the more trios you have, the better your chances at succesful summoning. I’ve already got another Magma, so now it’s on to either a Thunder or an Ice.

There will not be a dragon release in June. Instead, there will be an increased focus on new features, such as the Dragon Encyclopedia. More details on any changes to the site will be announced later.

I’m certainly looking forward to the Encyclopedia I reported earlier about. It is indeed coming!

With this I’m guessing we’ll have the name claiming in June as well. I wonder what other features will be released!

Guardian of Nature Summon 6

Hey all,

After last time’s success and TJ’s announcement he upped the chances of successfull summoning, I wanted to give summoning a Guardian of Nature another try now that the cooldown was finished on May 21st.

Unfortunately I was unsuccessfull. I hope next time I’ll have more luck! Now I’ll have to wait until June 5th for another chance.

Guardian of Nature Summon 5

I think I’ve already mentioned it in one of my earlier post but……

I DID IT!

On May 7th I managed to summon my first Guardian of Nature. It’s been a long time since I tried it. To be honest I hadn’t even thought about it for a very long time, but I remembered and it worked! I am (and was) very happy, especially now with DC’s Birthday Release of the Avatars.

The limit has been raised to 3 instead of 2 Guardians of Nature. Although normally I’d freeze at least 1 dragon per breed for my scroll completion goal, considering we can breed these Guardians with many other breeds and you can only have three of these Guardians I decided to have three adults. That way I can breed with three guardians at a time per week instead of only 1 or 2.

Of course I can now use this Guardian to breed. I also keep trying to summon more Guardians and for that I’m also catching and breeding new trio dragons. The more triosets you have, the better your chances are at summoning a Guardian. That combined with the standard chances of succesfull upped by TJ, I hope I don’t have to wait for years, like others have done, to have another successfull summoning again.

Thuweds

TJ09 has, of course, his own dragons. And he’s been so generous to use several of them for breeding requests. These dragons are all from Thuwed family. Now you may wonder what Thuwed stands for, I had been wondering the same. Actually Thuwed means dragon in the Saurian language:

About Saurian

Saurian is a cipher language created for the game Star Fox Adventures. The game takes place on a planet called Dinosaur Planet. The natives of the planet (several dinosaur tribes and one mammoth tribe) and Krystal (a blue fox girl) speak in a language that was known as “Dino Language.” In later games, the planet was called “Sauria.” I coined an unofficial term “Saurian” for the language because it’s easier to say.

I have to admit, this constructed language seems awesome! Perhaps I’ll construct a language for a book I’m writing. I know George R. R. Martin and J.R. Tolkien have constructed languages for their books and they give just that little bit of extra… but I’m digressing, back tot he subject at hand, TJ’s Thuweds.

You can’t make a Thuwed breeding request through the forum. Instead he has a special page for that.

Requesting a Thuwed Egg

I had hoped quite some time to be able to send in a breeding request and I was finally able to do so. Have you ever wondered how it works? Let me show you:

1. Thuweds Page
Like I said, TJ has a special page, the Thuweds page.
If you go here, you’ll usually just see a short introduction text and an overview of all the pairings TJ has for breeding requests.

2. Choose your request
You have three options to make a request:

  • Any egg
  • An egg from a specific pair (Pairs with full lists will be grayed out)
  • A certain kind of egg

3. Your request confirmed
If you’ve made your decision and you’ve managed to get on the list you’ll get the following message:

You’ll only get 1 place on the Thuwed breeding list so when you go back to the page again, you’ll see the following if your breeding request was confirmed:

If there’s no place on the breeding list and you’re not on the list you’ll get another text. I didn’t make a screenshot of that text. Once I’m not on the breeding list anymore, I’ll include it here.

My Request

I usually forget to check for a open place, but today I remembered! And I was lucky, because there were spots open! Now, I do have a wish for a Thuwed pairing simply for the fact one of the dragons has been discontinued (bright pink: Fadb Thuwed) and I wasn’t around before it was discontinued:

There are also pairings I would probably never combine, either because I’m not a big fan of the breed or because I’m not particular fond of the way the pairing looks. BUT….  There is another pairing, however, I like quite a lot too. I could make the one dragon and of the other I’ve got several already (darn Whites * Daydreams for ONLY producing Soulpeaces instead of the Whites I need for my lineage project), but if I make them myself  it will not be from CB’s like a descendant from this pairing will be:

And there’s a third pair of which I’d like an egg. Although I’m not fond of the Horse dragons, I do like the Hellhorses and TJ has made a pair with a Green Copper:

Although I might not be particular fond of the other pairings/breeds, I think one of my goals for the future is to have a descendent of at least each Thuwed pairing TJ has.

Onto the details of my request. Because the three pairings I wanted an egg off, had full lists, I decided to chose an egg of a breed I didn’t have yet; the Red Copper:

Ok, here is exactly what the rules are regarding breeding coppers. This is directly from TJ. As far as I know, bred dragons do not have biomes, nor do dragons stolen before biomes were implemented, nor prize dragons.

So, as you can see, random should never happen. I paraphrased this earlier, but here is the direct quote. So color of copper eggs is determined first what biome the egg is picked up in for CB, then the biome of the mother if the egg is bred, then if she has no biome, it’s the breed (color) of the copper father, then it’s the breed of the copper mother.

So, I don’t know why Amazon’s was green.

My Shadow Walker spriter alts are not into keeping lists. Trading requests are on a case by case basis. The exception is Shimmer Owners. I’m always interested in 2nd and 3rd gens. If you have cb coppers available for trade I will always be willing to breed 2nd gens from my alt Shadows for them.
Seeking 2nd gen gold tinsel or shimmer from female bleeding moon. Can offer even 3rd gen checker Holly Thuwed, 3rd gen ss shimmer/tinsel from spriter alts, other 3rd gen tinsels/shimmers, 2nd gens from spriter’s alt SW.

The pairing I mentioned above has the Hellhorse as a female and the green copper as a male, so it should give either a Hellhorse, or a Green copper, but not  a red copper. And TJ doesn’t have any red coppers in his overview of breeding pairs. I’m looking forward to the result!

Well, once I have the result, I’ll let you all know! Have fun in the meantime! Now all I need to remember is to keep at least 1 egg slot free. I don’t want to miss out on receiving my egg, now do I?
